"Let's un-spec the spec house." That was the brief from a client with exceptional taste and a deep appreciation for craftsmanship, textiles, and one-of-a-kind designs. Together, we transformed a builder-grade home into one rich with character through custom furnishings, commissioned pieces by local makers, artisanal finishes, and thoughtfully layered materials.
Two feature walls crafted from wood tiles became definite architectural moments - one left in its natural stain, the other finished in a dramatic, high-gloss charcoal. In the living room, hand-painted drapery with eyelash trim complements a custom ombré rug, while the richly textured artwork above the sofa was created using an extraordinary process of manually manipulating nearly dried paint. In the kitchen, a custom banquette masterfully layers five complimentary textiles resulting in joyful pattern play.
Every room is filled with soulful backstories and meaningful details. It’s proof that even a spec house can be something truly extraordinary.
