A historic home begins an exciting new chapter with dedicated stewards at the helm. After leaving New York City, this young family embraced the opportunity to become the next stewards of a landmark home while thoughtfully making it their own. Over five years, we reimagined every room in the original house, balancing its architectural heritage with a distinctly modern point of view. Cameo motifs, animal prints, collected one-of-a-kind artwork, sculptural lighting, and subtle nods to the family's love of music create interiors that feel deeply personal without ever overshadowing the home's historic charm.
When a fallen tree damaged the rear of the home, it presented an unexpected opportunity to expand the original footprint. Rather than replicate the original architecture, the addition was designed to complement it through thoughtful contrast. Traditional siding and finely crafted millwork pay homage to the home's history, while expansive steel-and-glass windows introduce a fresh, contemporary perspective. The result is an exterior that mirrors the philosophy carried throughout the home: respectful of its past while confidently embracing its future.
